We continue to explore the power of LinkedIn as an innovative data collection tool in helping us track Alumni and in doing so, track the “ripple effect” of the Fellowship.

Where are Alumni now? What are they doing? What do their leadership journeys look like post-Fellowship? And, what does this mean for the realisation of the Fellowship’s mission and its impact on those who undertake the programme?

Of the 17 Alumni from Cohort Two (2019), 13 have active LinkedIn profiles.

Here is a snapshot of this cohort and their journeys over the last four years.

Four Alumni have gone on to pursue post-graduate studies. One Alumna has obtained both an Honours in Education, Education Management, and Law and Policy from the University of Pretoria and a Master’s of Education Policy and Analysis from Harvard University and another, a Post Graduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluations Methods from Stellenbosch University. The third Alumna is currently undertaking a PhD in Philosophy at the University of Johannesburg, and the fourth, a Master’s of Philosophy in Inclusive Innovation at the Graduate Business School at the University of Cape Town.

Four Alumni have remained in the organisations they were a part of at the time of their Fellowship journey, three of whom have taken up new roles. One Alumna is now a Programme Director, another has become a Partnerships and Innovation Manager, and the third, a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Manager.

Of the nine who have since moved on from their organisations, three have taken up leadership positions in other organisations, while the others are currently consultants or full-time students, or holding administrative positions.

Nine Alumni remain in the civil society sector, one of whom is based overseas, one Alumna now works in the private sector, another for themselves, and the final, is pursuing their studies.

We will be reviewing other cohorts to better understand their journeys as well.
